I feel guilty and horrible and bad about it, but I just cancelled my subscription to Fast Company. Not that it’s a bad magazine or anything — actually, I think it’s pretty great — I just can’t keep up anymore with the Minneapolis/St. Paul white pages that get delivered to my p.o. box every month. Anyone else have this gripe about the obesity of magazines these days? I know I’m not the only one.

I can’t remember the last time I took a sick day. The agenda: 6 a.m, realize there’s no way I’m going to make it to work; 6:35 a.m., try to remember how the college’s voicemail system works and leave messages for various and sundry people whose meetings I’ll miss; 11:30 a.m., finally wake up; 1:30 p.m.; finally go back to bed; 4 p.m., get back up and find something to eat that will actually stay down (a bowl of Lucky Charms and half a baked apple were the winners); 4:40 p.m., check email and realize there’s nothing of importance and wonder why I don’t take sick days more often.
Random pics from the weekend: Roger (who has pants on, trust me) playing a fast game of Rummikub. The black and white makes the game seem pretty intense, doesn’t it?

Finally! At long last great movies are coming back to the theaters (it must be the holidays). Last week I saw Meet the Parents, and was subsequently asked if my father worked for the CIA (dad, is there something you’re not telling us?). This weekend, took in Billy Elliott, in limited release and playing at the Upwtown. The winner in the movie isn’t the ballet dancing boy, it’s his father, played by Gary Lewis. And tomorrow, thanks to everyone’s favorite morning radio show, we’ll be seeing a sneak preview of Lucky Numbers with John Travolta and Lisa Kudrow (thanks Rog, and thanks Van and Cheryl!). All this movie web surfing in the past few minutes makes me want to quit my day job and make movie web sites for the rest of my life.
