My new hobby started with the purchasing of these items.
I’ve thought about getting into homebrewing for the past couple of years. Talked about it with friends and coworkers. Thought about it some more. Talked about it with Lynsey. Thought about it some more. Then what was going to be just an information gathering trip to the local homebrewing supply house turned into a new hobby. Soon I was being shown all of the cool equipment that you need for making your own beer. Then before I knew what was happening, I was loading my car with everything I would need to start a brewery in my basement.
The best part is that within 20 minutes I had someone placing an order for beer from the inagural batch. Lynsey’s co-worker Mike wanted to get in on some of the action, so I invited him to come over on Tuesday night and the Bloomington Organization Of Brewers (also known as BOOB) made it’s first batch of beer. Well, it was the start of the first batch. A couple weeks of fermenting and a couple weeks in the bottles and we’ll have something to show for our work. We’ve already got plans to make a second batch in a few weeks when we bottle up the first batch. All we need now are a few more members of the club to help us drink our beer … applications are available for those interested in joining.
