Spring arrives in Minnesota (and the second consecutive post in which I mention Tom Cruise)

A sure-fire sign of spring’s arrival in Minnesosta is the appearance of my seasonal allergies. In the past week I’ve considered converting to Scientology — after all, Tom Cruise stated in his recent interview with Diana Sawyer that he hasn’t been sick (including with the common cold) after becoming a Scientologist. Maybe if I become one, too, my allergies will go away. Roger’s dad was kind enough to slip me a few of his prescription Zyrtecs on Easter Sunday. I think he felt sorry for me after I told them that the blooming crabapple tree they’d brought into their living room for the holiday, uh, might be source of my sniffles.

Minnesota Stories captured spring’s arrival perfectly in an adorable video on April 10. It’s called “When Winter Lets Go of Minnesota.” Even if you hate babies you’ll love the video.

But the best sign of spring for Roger and me is the arrival of Bloomington’s annual Curbside Cleanup this weekend. Details will be saved for a separate post!

Geek Alert!

While traveling on Monday and Tuesday I saw three transport loads (about 25 total) of these funny little cars! There must be a bunch of Geeks that need cars…

Actually they have a pretty cool website that tells you all about the Geekmobile and other Geek Squad random facts. You can tell a bunch of computer geeks put the website together.

Tubbing for a purpose

Despite that Roger and I haven’t assembled our “preparedness kit” or bought any more duct tape or plastic sheeting (we have enough from the last home renovation project, thank you), I do think that the new ready.gov site is pretty cool. There’s something that appeals to me about downloading all their lists, buying two big plastic tubs and filling them up with all sorts of neat supplies (I think it’s my “tubbing” gene — you should see my storeroom).

Save Karyn

I am not a very good blogger I’ll admit that. Lynsey and Roger asked if I’d ‘guest blog’ for them while they’re away and I haven’t been very diligent about it. That’s primarily because I’m taking care of Kozmo (yes, he’s doing fine) and starting my own website (soon to make its premiere). But I’ve been watching this website for a while and thought it was worth mentioning. It seems that Karyn’s gotten herself into a little trouble and now is relying on everyone else to get her out of it. My initial reaction was to be angry that a total stranger is asking total strangers for money and people are actually donating! Now I realize my anger was because I didn’t think of the idea first.
